Drivers should provide a valid national or international driver's license held at least two years, a passport for non residents, national id card for residents and a credit card for security deposit. You may pay rental cost by credit card, debit card or cash in one of the four currencies which are TRY, USD, EUR, GBP. Additional drivers apart from main driver should meet age and licence requirements at the time of rental, also should be registered in the rental agreement by presenting their documents.

There is age limit of minimum 23 years age for groups Economy to Wagon, 25 years of age and minimum 3 years of driver's licence for groups Standard and higher, 28+ years of age for groups Luxury or higher for car rental in Turkey. The maximum age for renting a car in Turkey is 75 years old. If you're between 18 and 23 years old, you may be subject to a young driver surcharge to compensate for the higher risk associated with renting to younger drivers.

You may book and pay by Visa or Mastercard debit cards. However, credit card is required for security deposit to secure potential damages that are not covered or additional costs (traffic fines, toll fees, fuel difference, extended rental etc.) that might arise during the rental period. If you want security deposit to be placed on your debit card, there should be enough balance in the card for minimum 1.000 EUR pre-authorization (temporary hold) until the rental car returned.

When renting a car in Turkey, it’s important to choose the right combination of insurance coverage to ensure you're protected in case of an accident or damage. At a minimum, make sure you have Third-Party Liability Insurance and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). You may also want to consider additional coverage, such as Headlights, Tyres, Windscreen Insurance (HTW), Excess Reduction or Zero Excess insurance for added peace of mind during your trip. Always read the terms and conditions of the rental company’s insurance policies, coverage limits to understand what’s included and what’s not. If the issue was caused by neglect or misuse, you may be liable for some of the costs.

In case of accident, take pictures of car/s (including plate numbers) involved in the accident as a proof of accident, damages, location. If there are injuries you can call an ambulance by dialing 112. This is the emergency number for medical, fire, and police services throughout the country. Check your rental agreement for the emergency contact number/roadside assistance and call immediately to provide your location, rental agreement number, and a description of the issue. The staff will guide you through the next steps and arrange assistance, which may include towing, repairs, or a replacement vehicle. For any damage, insurance will be void if you do not get a formal traffic/accident report, so do not leave the location or let other involved parties leave without getting the report.

When renting a car in Turkey, several optional services and add-ons are available to enhance your experience or provide extra convenience. The most common optional services offered are additional drivers, child seats, extra insurance, GPS, Wifi-hotspot, snow chains, delivery/collection outside office location, one way rental. Those optional services are usually offered for an additional fee and should be informed at the time of booking to check availability.
