What you need to know before you rent a car at Izmir Airport?

Plan your road trip by rental car from Izmir Airport

Planning a road trip by rental car from Izmir airport before you travel involves several key steps to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey. By being well-informed, you can make an informed decision and avoid any surprises when you arrive at Izmir Airport. Here's a guide to help you plan your road trip. By following these steps, you can effectively plan ahead and being prepared can help you have a safe and enjoyable road trip to your destination.

Book the right car group in advance
Rental companies often offer lower rates for bookings made in advance. Making a reservation early helps you avoid the disappointment of not finding the desired vehicle upon arrival. Compare the available car groups based on factors such as size, passenger capacity, luggage space, features, fuel efficiency and price to identify the most suitable option for your trip.
Consider optional extras
Optional extras allow you to customize your rental experience to suit your specific requirements. Whether you need a GPS navigation system, a child car seat, or additional insurance coverage, considering these extras ensures that you have everything you need for a comfortable and safe journey. By considering them beforehand, you can ensure that the rental company has the specific items or services you need, avoiding disappointment upon arrival.
Remember to bring required documents
Rental car companies typically require certain documents before they hand over the keys to the vehicle. These documents usually include driver's licence, passport, credit card, reservation confirmation, additional driver's licence. Forgetting any of these documents could lead to delays or even the inability to rent the car altogether. So, it's crucial to double-check that you have everything you need before heading to the rental car pickup location.
Pick up your rental car
Upon arrival at Izmir airport, proceed to the baggage claim area if you've flown in. Have all necessary documents ready, including your driver's license, passport, credit card and the confirmation voucher from your rental booking. Head to the rental car company's counter or meeting point and present your documentation to the agent. Take some time to review the rental terms and conditions provided by the agent. Pay attention to details such as fuel policy, mileage limits, and insurance coverage. Before accepting the keys, thoroughly inspect the rental car for any pre-existing damage. Note any scratches, dents, or other issues on the rental agreement or take photos for your records. This can help avoid disputes over damage charges when returning the vehicle. If you haven't already paid in full online, you'll need to settle any remaining balance at this time. Additionally, the rental company may place a hold on your credit card for the security deposit amount, which will be released upon returning the car without any extra cost. With the keys in hand and paperwork completed, you're ready to hit the road and start exploring Bodrum and its surroundings with your rental car!
